Credits
Page Change Detector is built on open source libraries. This page lists the ones the product itself runs on, what each one does here, and where to find the project and its license. The legally complete list, with the copyright line from each license file, is in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md in the repository.
Versions are the ones the build installs. Each project keeps its own copyright and license, and nothing here takes credit for that work.
undici 8.11.2, MIT
Makes the outgoing HTTP requests. Every one of them passes through this product's own address guard, on the first hop and again on every redirect.
request-filtering-agent 3.2.1, MIT
Refuses requests to private, loopback and link-local addresses, so a page cannot be used to point a check at the internal network.
robots-parser 3.0.1, MIT
Reads a site's robots.txt, so a group that names PageChangeDetectorBot is obeyed.
cheerio 1.2.0, MIT
Parses the fetched HTML, which is how one element can be read with a CSS selector.
@mozilla/readability 0.6.0, Apache-2.0
Pulls the readable article text out of a page in whole page mode, leaving out the navigation, the footer and the scripts.
linkedom 0.18.13, ISC
Supplies the DOM that the readability library runs on, without a browser.
diff 9.0.0, BSD-3-Clause
Computes the line diff between the stored version of a page's text and the new one, which is what the alert email and the history view show.
bullmq 5.79.2, MIT
Schedules the recurring checks and runs the workers that carry them out. Only the MIT licensed core is used, with plain repeatable jobs.
playwright 1.64.0, Apache-2.0
Renders a page in a real browser for the render tier, for pages that build their content in JavaScript after the HTML arrives.
disposable-email-domains-js 1.26.0, CC0-1.0
Supplies the list of disposable email domains that signup refuses.
What the product adds
The libraries above do the work each entry describes. Everything a visitor sees on top of them is this product's own code: the checks, the schedule and the host politeness rules, the noise filtering that runs before two versions are compared, the change history and its side-by-side view, the alert email, the accounts and the dashboard, and the REST API.
